How to reduce uric acid
There are many ways to reduce uric acid in your body. The most effective way to reduce uric acid is to practice discipline lifestyle and change of diet.
Here’s some practices that helps to reduce uric acid:-
Reduce consumption of food that has high level of purines
Purines are organic compounds that contribute to uric acid formation. So cutting down food with high purines will greatly reduce uric acid level in the body. Here’s the food that contain high level of purines: asparagus, anchovies, herring, meat gravies and broth, mussels, mushroom, sardines and sweet breads. (or you may refer to my previous post “food with high uric acid level“)
Lose Weight and exercise more
If you are overweight, try to exercise more to reduce your weight gradually. Losing weight will lower serum uric acid levels. But try to avoid very restricted weight loss diets (crash diet) as rapid weight loss can precipitate the attack of Gout.
Drink plenty of water
Drink at least 6 to 8 glasses of water per day. Fluid intake promotes the excretion of uric acid and liquid that are low in caffeine and calories help to reduce uric acid from the blood stream
Avoid alcohol
Alcohol speed up the production of uric acid in your body. It’s a must to be eliminated from the diet.
Reduce caffeine consumption
Try to limit yourself from taking too much coffee and reduce the coffee you take daily. Not only coffee contain caffeine, some other drinks might contain caffeine too, so try not to consume drinks with caffeine.
Reduce meat consumption of any kind
Seafood, meat and organ meats contain extremely high uric acid level. Try to avoid the consumption of meat. If possible try to consume more vegetables and it will greatly relief you from painful gout symptoms and reduce uric acid.
Limit amount of fried foods
Fat and oil turn rancid at high temperature such as in frying. Rancid fats quickly destroy vitamin E, resulting in the release of increased amount of uric acid. So cutting down friend food will help to reduce uric acid too.
